1. Integrity and Expectations

Personal and professional integrity is our foundation for compliance. We choose to operate with the highest level of integrity, transparency, and accountability.

All decisions, conversations, and actions should follow this standard; anything less will not be tolerated.

"Integrity is choosing courage over comfort. It's choosing what is right over what is fun, fast, or easy. It's choosing to practice your values rather than simply professing them." - Brene Brown

VALUE STATEMENTS:

EXPECTATIONS

of Coaches:

  • You don't need to know ALL the rules, but you need to know if there is a rule. And you need to ask and research the rule.

  • Compliance and Eligibility is collaborative, so communication needs to occur often. The more information we have, the better our choices become

  • Your role is to filter questions and information from students to the DOC. It is also to disperse information from the DOC to students.

of Students:

  • If students don't do the work early, options and availability for help become limited to non-existent.

  • Students are responsible for their eligibility. You and the DOC are only their support. Students need to know what is expected of them and how to be and remain eligible.

  • Student-athletes are students first! They must understand that they have the greatest impact on their eligibility by being good students.

of the Director of Compliance:

  • I make my workspace available to you so that we can collaborate on information.

  • Information about rules, student information, and processes will be available to you for reference.

  • Please know that the goal is always to make the most fair decision based on evidence and the wellbeing of all persons involved. This includes prioritizing the work, protecting the system, and applying resources.
